Week 7 is the 2nd month of pregnancy. Your baby is now 5 weeks old, because that is how long it has been since the egg and sperm fused. That's not much, and your baby is still very small, but its body is changing very intensively right now. Everything that happens in the 7th week of pregnancy affects further development. Remember to take care of yourself and listen to your body.

How does a mother feel in the 7th week of pregnancy?

Your mood may deteriorate slightly in the 7th week of pregnancy. The level of pregnancy hormones (progesterone, oestrogen and chorionic gonadotropin) continues to rise. For this reason, you are already experiencing discomfort. Some of them are annoying. Don't worry, in most cases they will subside by the end of the first trimester.

Possible symptoms in the 7th week of pregnancy are:

  • Sleepiness
  • lack of energy and constant feeling of tiredness
  • nausea and vomiting
  • tenderness of the chest
  • increased urination
  • an increase in certain skin lesions

In the 7th week of pregnancy, the abdomen is still flat. It will only become rounder a few weeks later. However, your breasts may enlarge. They become firmer and fuller. This is how they prepare for lactation. They can be a sign that you will soon become a mother.

Also remember that symptoms in the 7th week of pregnancy are individual to each woman. If you are not nauseous, you are full of energy and your breasts have not yet increased in size, there is nothing to worry about. Your body just reacts a little differently.

What the baby looks like in the 7th week of pregnancy

You have probably wondered what your baby looks like in the 7th week of pregnancy. His body has already developed the nuclei of arms and legs. The neck is also gradually forming. The eyes, nose and lips are beginning to form on the face. Thanks to this, the baby begins to resemble a human being in the 7th week.

The 7th week is the time when the baby's nervous system forms. This is a very important moment because serious defects can be triggered now. Remember that not only stimulants, but also some supplements and medicines (even over-the-counter) are harmful.

The size of the baby in the 7th week of pregnancy is 7-12 millimetres and his weight is only 1 gram. Despite its small size, its body works very hard to give birth in less than 9 months.

Vaginal ultrasound in the 7th week of pregnancy

The 7th week of pregnancy is the right time for your first visit to the gynaecologist. Your baby is already big enough to be seen during an ultrasound scan (USG). This allows the gynaecologist to confirm the pregnancy. Remember that a pregnancy test is not diagnostic enough.

A vaginal ultrasound will be performed during your first visit to the gynaecologist. In the 7th week of pregnancy, it is still too early to use a transducer to look at the inside of the uterus with a lower abdominal probe. In the following months you will have an ultrasound examination of the abdomen.
